7th grade Maker Space and Art Minor collaborated on the Art Cart. Check back in the fall to see our progress.
Class of 2015 Art Minors explored their creativity by planning a mural as a group. Together as a class they decided to focus on different parts of the mural that would describe our school: Field Trips, Minors & Electives, Education, and Positive Quotes. The following photos document the time spent planning and painting the mural as well as our field trip to Philly. #don'tmesswithmyvacationI planned my first field trip and it was a blast. I think the best thing about this trip was that I got to know my kids and my kids got to know me. We started the day by boarding the bus at 7:00 and arrived in Philly around 9:30. On the bus I told them that they needed to find us a breakfast spot, perferably a diner. They ended up finding Reading Terminal Market, which ended up being such a great start to our morning. Several kids joined Ms. Burt and I at the diner while others stayed together in groups and found their breakfast. Philly Cheesesteaks at 9AM... sure why not. Once we finished breakfast we met up with Mural Arts Program. It was a wonderful tour filled with amazing visual stories of the history of the city. I will say it was a lot of walking. We ended up booking two tours that day and didn't make it to the second, Magic Gardens. We did however get to view the amazing art from the outside. This was actually a perfect ending to our trip because it left my students wanting to see what was inside. Best way to end a less... wanting more.
